Match the course to your starting evidence
Send your latest official result if you have one, including each skill rather than only the overall band. If you have no result, ask which interview or diagnostic the school accepts and whether it qualifies you for the exact programme. Admission to ordinary preparation does not automatically mean admission to a score-guarantee course.
Philinter's official FAQ lists different starting levels for Intensive and Guarantee programmes. For example, its Guarantee 6.5 option lists an IELTS 5.5 starting level. The guarantee course page also asks for recent official evidence and an online interview. The FAQ invites applicants without a score to an interview, so do not assume that an interview alone satisfies the stricter package rules: request a written admission decision.
Define the target the recipient actually needs
Ask your university, employer or registration body which test version and result it accepts. An overall target can differ from minimum scores in individual skills. A school remedy based on the overall band may not protect you if you reach that band but miss the required Writing score. Give the school the complete requirement and ask whether its contract addresses that situation.
Use mock tests as feedback, not credentials
- Does the mock use the correct Academic or General Training tasks?
- Are tasks timed and unseen, and how is speaking assessed?
- Who marks writing, what criteria are used and what feedback will you receive?
- Does the review identify errors and the next learning task, rather than only a band estimate?
- Which official test date and booking arrangements remain separate?
A school mock helps monitor practice under stated conditions. It does not become an official IELTS result because it resembles the exam. Repeating familiar questions may also make comparisons less informative. Ask how the school keeps progress reviews comparable.
Read the remedy behind “guarantee”
Philinter publishes distinct remedies for its guarantee options, involving conditional tuition benefits; accommodation and local fees remain payable under the published terms. This is not an unlimited free stay or an unconditional cash refund. Ask when the remedy is triggered, whether it requires returning later, how long it lasts and which costs you must fund yourself.
The public page also sets attendance, punctuality, homework and mock-test obligations. Its attendance wording is not fully consistent between the requirement and termination sections. Rather than choose a threshold ourselves, we recommend obtaining one clear, dated contract and written clarification before purchase.
Run a contract stress test before committing
Hypothetical scenario: a student reaches the promised overall band but misses a recipient's individual-skill minimum. Would the remedy apply? What if illness interrupts attendance or the official test date changes? Ask the school to answer those scenarios against the exact clauses, including who decides exceptions and what documents are needed. If an important rule remains unclear, compare ordinary preparation instead. No school package can guarantee admission, professional registration or a particular future learning outcome.
