English schools without accommodation in the Philippines: walk-in fees
You can study at selected Philippine English schools while arranging your own accommodation. Ask for the school's actual commuter or walk-in tariff: subtracting a dormitory price from a residential package does not always produce the fee you will pay.
Quick answer
Our school-supplied records list QQ English at $934 for four weeks of four one-to-one lessons per day. First English's campaign lists four one-to-one lessons at $560 for four weeks, subject to arrival and departure within September 2026–June 2027 and a minimum four-week booking. Philinter's separate commuter schedule lists General ESL at $1,060 for four weeks, not the $870 tuition component shown in its residential schedule. None of these figures is a full trip budget.
What does “walk-in” mean?
In these records it means attending lessons without taking the school's accommodation. It does not mean that you can arrive unannounced and start immediately. You still need to confirm enrolment, your course, campus, start date and any study-document requirements. Meals, access to facilities and local charges must be checked separately.
This format can suit someone who already has a place to stay, a family sharing accommodation or a traveller who wants a different room arrangement. It also leaves you responsible for the daily journey, rental terms, utilities and meals. A cheaper tuition line is not proof of a cheaper overall stay.
Four-week tuition examples
Prices below are in US dollars per student for the named course, without accommodation. They are recorded tariffs, not a statement of current availability. Registration, local charges, meals and travel are additional unless your written quote explicitly includes them.
| School and course | Tuition for four weeks | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| First English: four one-to-one classes | $560 | Campaign: both arrival and departure within September 2026–June 2027; at least four weeks; registration $120 extra. |
| First English: six one-to-one plus two group, or seven one-to-one classes | $610 | Different lesson options at the same campaign tariff; confirm the option and timetable in your quote. |
| QQ English: four one-to-one classes | $934 | Tuition only. Registration $150 extra; accommodation and meals are separate lines. |
| QQ English: six one-to-one classes | $1,228 | A different daily teaching load; do not compare with a four-class price as if the products were identical. |
| Philinter: Light ESL commuter | $950 | Separate commuter schedule; registration $120 and listed meal fee PHP 6,500 for lunch and dinner over four weeks are outside tuition. Confirm meal arrangements. |
| Philinter: General ESL commuter | $1,060 | Use the commuter tariff, not the residential tuition component. Local charges also apply. |
First English's campaign excludes peak-season dates. Its four-class commuting course has a regular four-week rate of $1,120 in the same source; do not extend the $560 campaign to an ineligible trip. Confirm the school's written acceptance of your exact dates before making plans.
Why removing a room can give the wrong quote
Philinter is a useful example. Its residential price record separates General ESL tuition of $870 and a double dormitory component of $970, giving a $1,840 package. But the dedicated commuter sheet lists General ESL at $1,060. The component price describes the residential product; it is not automatically the walk-in selling price.
Similarly, a promotion on a shared-room package does not necessarily discount tuition-only bookings. Ask for the named tariff and its conditions rather than estimating a refund for accommodation you do not need.
Build a comparable budget
- Write down your exact course, daily lesson mix and four-week dates.
- Request tuition, registration and local school charges as separate lines.
- Add your actual accommodation quote, utilities, deposits and cancellation terms.
- Add the meal plan you will use and the daily transport cost for the exact campus.
- Keep refundable deposits separate from non-refundable spending. Keep US dollars and Philippine pesos separate unless you record an exchange rate and date.
For QQ English's four-class example, the records show a $934 tuition line, $351 capsule accommodation and $260 meals. The school package totals $1,545 before registration and local charges. If you choose external housing, compare your housing, food and transport budget against the components you would otherwise buy; do not assume the entire $611 difference is a saving.
Questions to send before booking
- Is this the commuter tariff for my course and campus?
- Which meals are included, optional or charged separately?
- What are the lesson length, start time and expected weekly attendance?
- Can I use campus facilities, and are there different rules for non-residents?
- What local charges and study-document arrangements apply to my stay?
- What happens if I change my dates or cancel?
For a child, also confirm age eligibility, supervision and the parent's responsibilities. Adult walk-in tuition does not establish a child-and-parent package.
Questions and answers
Does tuition-only mean there are no local school fees?
No. Registration and local charges can still apply. Philinter's commuter sheet explicitly requires local fees; confirm the itemised list for your course and stay.
Can I take a one-week price by dividing the four-week tariff?
No. First English's campaign requires at least four weeks, and short-course tariffs can follow different rules. Ask for the price of your actual duration.
Is walking in always cheaper than living at school?
No. The result depends on rent, meals, transport, utilities and which promotion you qualify for. Compare complete, dated quotes rather than tuition alone.
