How to shortlist schools without a misleading ranking
- Lower shared-room budget: check the 3D Academy start dates and conditions; do not compare a six-bed offer with another school's private room.
- Study without accommodation: ask for a walk-in quote. QQ English's recorded tuition-only range is $934–1587 for four weeks.
- More speaking classes: compare the actual timetable for IU & ICL Power Speaking or QQ English; a course name alone does not show the balance of group and individual lessons.
- IELTS: request the entry level, target, minimum duration, mock tests and exam arrangements. Ask Philinter for the price and eligibility terms of the exact guarantee course. Exam preparation does not automatically mean that the official exam is held on the campus.
- Family: obtain separate child and parent prices, the room arrangement and supervision terms. An adult ESL price is not a family package.
Check the campus, not only the brand
Some schools have more than one campus or accommodation option. Ask for the exact campus address, transfer time, classroom location and room photographs. A campus described as “Cebu” is not necessarily on Mactan, and a school on an island is not necessarily beachfront.
